We are currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable lawyer to join our employment and immigration team.

Job Summary:

The lawyer will provide comprehensive legal advice and representation in matters related to employment and immigration, as well as health and safety law.

While some experience in these areas is preferred, candidates who are eager to develop their expertise in this specialised field and who are locally warranted are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Research and Analysis: 

Conduct detailed legal research on issues related to employment and immigration.
Interpret and analyse relevant laws, regulations, and case law to provide informed legal advice.

  • Advisory Services:

Advise clients on health and safety, employment, and immigration law matters.
Assist clients in understanding and adhering to Health and safety regulations as well as employment obligations.
Provide guidance on enforcement and litigation, and assist in connection with investigations by the OHSA and Department of Industrial and Employment Relations.

  • Representation and Litigation:

Represent clients in proceedings.
Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, and opinions.
Adviser and act for clients in investigations.

  • Compliance and Risk Management:

Provide guidance on compliance with health and safety and employment to mitigate legal risks.
Develop and implement contracts and policies for clients.

  • Client Relationship Management:

Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring ongoing support and updates.
Participate in client meetings, conferences, and networking events to enhance client engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

A law degree from an accredited university.
Admission to practice law in Malta (local warranted).

  •  Experience:

Some experience in employment, health and safety, and immigration law is preferred but not mandatory.
Prior experience in a law firm or legal department is an asset.

  • Skills:

Strong research and analytical capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
High attention to detail and superior organisational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.

  • Languages:

Fluency in English is required.
Proficiency in Maltese is advantageous.
