Camilleri Preziosi teams up with ELSA Malta for its Corporate & Finance Law Conference 2018

Camilleri Preziosi, as Academic Partner of the European Law Students Association (ELSA Malta), will again be participating in the student organisation’s annual half-day conference on Corporate and Finance Law. This year’s event will be held on the 23 March 2018 at the Victoria Hotel, Sliema between 14:00 and 18:00.

The overall theme of the conference will be centred around blockchain technology and its practical applications across various areas of interest.  Malcolm Falzon will provide the opening address, in the form of an introduction to blockchain and a look at the reasons why the technology has garnered so much attention in recent months.   He, along with Alexia Valenzia, a member of Camilleri Preziosi’s Blockchain Taskforce, will then deliver a presentation on blockchain as a tool for the raising of capital.  Their presentation will explore the ways in which blockchain could be used by various entities, from start-ups to established businesses, as an alternative method of financing, with a particular focus on capital markets and the processes which may be made more efficient through the application of blockchain and initial coin offerings.

ELSA Malta sponsors Gauci Maistre Xynou and Deloitte will then proceed to deliver presentations entitled “Smart contracts: a new era in shipping?” and “Blockchain technology and its potential in taxes” respectively.

These presentations will be followed by two panel discussion sessions.  The first will be titled “Blockchain, Fintech and their impact on the financial services ecosystem as we know it”. The second session will discuss the proposed legislative framework on initial coin offerings and the provision of certain services in relation to virtual currencies. Speakers from Camilleri Preziosi and the said ELSA Malta sponsors will be amongst the panellists.

Those wishing to attend this event, which Camilleri Preziosi is proud to support, may register by completing this form.
