As regulation evolves and societal expectations grow, companies are increasingly attributing unprecedented levels of importance to environmental, social and governance (‘ESG’) matters.

Our ESG & Sustainable Finance team is at the forefront of supporting clients in navigating the multifaceted landscape of ESG , primarily assisting with ESG-related regulatory compliance and sustainable financing.

ESG Regulation:

A wave of regulatory change has been launched in the EU with the aim of integrating ESG considerations into investment decision- making, due diligence practices, and designing sustainability focused financial products. Having a broad and multi-disciplinary understanding of the latest regulatory developments and proposals as well as evolving market practices, we advise financial market participants and advisers on the way in which emerging regulatory requirements will impact their products and processes, and on the disclosures necessary to achieve compliance.

Sustainable Finance:

Our in-depth understanding of sustainable financing tied with our extensive expertise in capital markets also makes us ideally placed to seamlessly guide prospective issuers through the process of issuing green bonds, and the admission to listing and trading thereof, on the Green Market of the Malta Stock Exchange, and advise same on their adherence to continuing obligations and ongoing corporate governance requirements throughout the lifetime of the bonds.

We act for corporates that have sustainable finance products listed and traded on foreign regulated markets in relation to international offerings having a Maltese dimension.

With a strong appreciation for the opportunities and challenges arising out of the growing focus on sustainability, our firm is actively involved in contributing to market discussion and development locally through our interactions with key industry participants and regulatory bodies.
